You Have the Right to Remain Silent!

If you are arrested, it is unspeakably important that you remember that you exercise your right to remain silent.
Police officers, investigators, prosecutors, and detectives are not your friends, no matter what. Their job is to get a confession out of you, or to get evidence that can be used to prosecute you to the full extent of the law.
As soon as you are arrested, ask for a Chicago criminal defense attorney. If you do not have an attorney, the state will appoint one to you, so it is important to either specifically request an accomplished lawyer you can trust, such as one at Law Office of Michael P. Schmiege, PC, or ask a friend or family member to find one for you.
Do not trust what they say, and do not answer any questions besides your name and address. Any room in which they question you has video and audio recording. If the officer turns off a recording device on the table, what you say is still being recorded.
